Want to be part of a new idea for using direct payments?

The ‘Citizen Directed Co-operative’ project is looking for people who are receiving direct payments to join the ‘Monmouthshire Direct Payments Co-operative’ to provide support with the planning and setting up of the co-operative.

We are looking for people who live in Monmouthshire, though we will also consider people from nearby local authorities. Priority will be given to those living in Monmouthshire.

The idea behind a co-operative is that people can buy services using direct payments, such as paying for a PA.

Being part of a cooperative gives you an opportunity to discuss ideas and proposals, make decisions and vote. You have choice and control over getting the services you want, when you want them.

Board membership will be for a fixed term. We are looking for people who can share ideas, support the setup of the co-operative, provide responses to a variety of documents and be willing to attend training and meetings.

All members will be fully supported to ensure they understand what is needed. The co-operative manager will take on the day to day management of the co-operative and complete any work required by board members.

Interested in knowing more? Please contact Jeff Brattan-Wilson either by emailing jeffbrattan-wilson@disabilitywales.org or calling 02920 887325.
