A tribute to disability rights campaigner and activist, Simon Green

A black and white photo of Simon Green holding a sign that says Don't disable our future

We are devastated at the loss of disability rights campaigner and activist Simon Green, a long-time member of our Board of Directors at Disability Wales.

Simon’s impact was enormous, as Chair of Bridgend Coalition of Disabled People he campaigned tirelessly for better access and support regarding local services as well as advocating for countless individuals in achieving their rights and entitlements.

At a national level, he was a high-profile campaigner most notably on tackling Disability Hate Crime, participating in undercover television documentaries and was a passionate speaker at many conferences and events, drawing on his own experience.

Simon’s positivity, energy and sense of humour will be greatly missed at DW and all he contributed to the development of our organisation as a strong voice for disabled people in Wales.

Simon was a role model for many and his legacy will be the way he inspired the next generation of disabled activists to be proud of their identity and claim their rights.
