Be aware of COVID-19 vaccination scams

White text on a black background, it reads Be aware of scams about COVID-19 vaccinations.

If you are contacted about a vaccine, remember that any contact regarding a real NHS COVID – 19 vaccine booking will never;

  • Ask for a payment or any bank details
  • Ask you to press a button on your keypad when on the phone
  • Ask you to send a text to confirm a booking.

The NHS will never charge for a COVID- 19 vaccination, anyone claiming to offer you the vaccine who asks for payment, is attempting to scam you.

Never provide copies of personal documents such as your passport or driving license, the NHS won’t ask for these.

When you are contacted about your legitimate vaccine, you will be offered it through either your GP or the national booking service.

If you are unsure of the call’s validity, call your GP who will be able to confirm this for you.

When you’re invited to have your vaccination at a local centre, such as a GP surgery or a hospital, you’ll get a letter or a text. If you’re invited to a larger vaccination centre or a pharmacy, you’ll be contacted by letter.

Remember that the NHS will never arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine.

If you believe a call to be a scam, hang up. If you receive an e-mail you are suspicious about you can forward it to report@phising.gov.uk or call 0300 123 2040 to report a fraudulent call.
